Over the years, members of the Warband have been involved in many environmental campaigns, such as fighting the Newbury bypass, assisting with Titmore woods and many other high profile campaigns. At this time, our energies are pooled together for the Bones Picket at Stonehenge. However, this does not mean that the Warband are not involved in other environmental campaigns. Eco-warriors never stop caring about our lands, it's sacred sites and places we treasure. We can't be everywhere at once but with the introduction of the world wide web, we are now able to communicate and network more freely with many who are still active in eco-battles. Facebook is an essential tool for such communications, most green camps have their own groups and followers, it is through this media we can spread the word about upcoming protests, green camps and pool other resources towards these campaigns. We can't be everywhere physically but we our voice reaches far and wide. If we can't be there, we know someone who can.

Listed below are current environmental issues. If you can't be front-line, then join the ranks behind by writing letters to your MP and raising awareness by spreading the word. Even one person can make a difference - you could be that person.

SAVE OUR FORESTS

The government is getting ready for a huge sell-off of our national forests to private firms. This could mean ancient woodlands are chopped down and destroyed.

But they need to push new laws through Parliament before these plans can go ahead. That means we have time to stop them

Sign the petition now to tell the government to "save our forests".

Arthur states - "Rest assured, we will play our part, (at the sharp end) When and where nessesary we will do what we did before and 'take to the trees' It will not pay them, to sell off our woodlands, likened to the anti roads protest movement of the nineties it will cost them dearly. by the time they have costed in the price of mass evictions and the accomponying law suits it will not be economically viable."

UPDATE:

The government have halted this. Public won.... for now.

BRIAN HAW

Brian Haw has been campaigning outside Parliament since 2nd June 2001 - coming up to his tenth year! Living rough and surviving on generous donations from his supporters, Brian has only left to attend court dates. There has been raids, arrests and foul play from the Governmental bodies. Brain has stayed on the picket in all weathers, in spite of being diagnosed with cancer. That hasn't stopped the authorities from bullying him... for the full story, please visit his website and Facebook page. Brian is currently receiving cancer treatment abroad but the Peace Camp remains strong. We respect and wish Brian the very best and support his Quest for Truth and Justice.

It is with great sadness that we have to report that Brian Haw passed away on 18th June 2011 after a tenacious battle with cancer. He remained defiant until his last breath.  A true hero's measure is when he continues to inspire beyond the vale of death and Brian Haw will go down in history as a great man and be remembered alongside Ghandi and Martin Luther King and the many others who stood up and faced great adversity, sacrificing comfort and enduring physical hardship for the Greater Good of Humankind.  Read the comments on the BBC news article - from all walks of life and of all faiths - one word is said over and over again - RESPECT.

Thank you Brian Haw for your sacrifice, vision and determination to give a voice to those who have none. The fight will go on. He may not be physically here but he will be in the hearts of those he inspired. Rest in peace /|\
